Archana Anthony Raj
Clinical Specialization
couples therapy and psychiatric social work
Introduction
I’m Archana Anthony Raj, a couples therapist with The Marriage Fit, deeply committed to helping partners move from confusion and conflict toward clarity, understanding, and emotional connection.
My journey into therapy began with a curiosity about the human mind, inspired early on by A General Introduction to Psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud. Over time, this curiosity evolved into a meaningful pursuit of understanding how relationships shape not just our emotions, but our overall sense of well-being and stability.
Through my training in Social Work and MPhil in Psychiatric Social Work, I developed a holistic perspective—one that recognises the emotional, relational, and social layers that influence every relationship. Today, I work closely with couples to help them navigate challenges with greater awareness, empathy, and intention.
My Approach
Gentle Structure with Emotional Depth
Relationships can feel overwhelming—but healing them requires both emotional safety and clear direction.
My approach is integrative and collaborative, drawing from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and Behavioural Couples Therapy.
In our work together, I focus on helping you understand not just what is happening in your relationship, but why it feels the way it does—while also equipping you with practical tools to respond differently. Each session is thoughtfully paced and tailored, ensuring both partners feel heard, respected, and supported.
Expertise
I support couples across a range of concerns, including:
● Communication breakdowns and recurring conflicts
● Trust issues, including infidelity and emotional disconnection
● Intimacy and unmet emotional needs
● Family and in-law dynamics
● Role expectations, transitions, and adjustment challenges
My focus remains on fostering emotional safety, clarity, and a stronger sense of partnership.
What You Can Expect
Therapy with me is designed to feel safe, steady, and meaningful. In our sessions, you can expect:
● A calm, non-judgmental space where both partners feel heard
● Gentle guidance to understand emotional triggers and patterns
● Support in expressing difficult feelings without escalation
● Practical tools to improve communication and reduce conflict
My aim is to help you move from reactive cycles to more intentional, connected ways of relating.
Beyond Conflict
Strengthening the Relationship Itself
While resolving issues is important, therapy is also about building a relationship that feels emotionally secure and sustainable.
Together, we work toward:
● Developing deeper emotional understanding and empathy
● Rebuilding trust and connection after difficult experiences
● Creating balance between individual needs and shared goals
● Strengthening your ability to face challenges as a team
Professional Experience
With over three and a half years in the field of counselling, I have worked with individuals and couples across diverse emotional and relational concerns.
My clinical training during my MPhil, along with ongoing practice and intensive case-based learning involving 900+ Indian couples, has shaped my ability to understand relationship dynamics with depth and sensitivity. I have supported couples through complex life situations, helping them rebuild communication, strengthen emotional resilience, and reconnect as partners.
A Note from Me
I understand that seeking therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when it involves your relationship.
But it is also a meaningful step toward change. You don’t have to navigate this alone—I will walk alongside you with empathy and care, helping you create a relationship that feels more secure, understood, and fulfilling.
Experience
4000+ hours therapy session in overall experience. Worked with 100 couples
